Non-Construction Volunteers

Volunteer Opportunities
Office Support Volunteers assist with data entry, answering phones, mass mailing and similar office tasks. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9-5.
Special Event Volunteers assist with events like the annual “Home Run Race” each spring and the annual “First Mortgage Corporation BBQ Luncheon” in the fall.
Snack Volunteers provide snacks for the construction volunteers each Saturday morning at their mid morning break. Snacks are needed for about 20 volunteers each day.
Committee Volunteers serve along with Board members on several committees that work to fulfill our mission. Listed below are committees that welcome volunteer members.
Current Committees
The Construction Committee is responsible for the planning and implementing of construction projects of Habitat for Humanity, as well as identification, analysis, selection and acquisition of building sites. This committee typically meets on the last Tuesday evening of each month.
The Church Relations Committee works with the churches in Pitt County to encourage sponsorship for building a home, contributions and recruiting of volunteers from those congregations. This committee meets as called by the chairman.
The Family Selection Committee is responsible for recruiting and selecting the families for whom the homes will be built. The also act as a liaison between Habitat and local social service agencies. They recommend applicants to the Board of Directors for approval and coordinate contacts between the Board and the families who have been selected. This committee meets on the last Wednesday evening of each month.
The Development Committee is responsible for planning, organizing and conducting all fund raising efforts of the Corporation as well as informing the public of the goals, needs and activities of Habitat. This committee meets on an as needed basis.
The Service Committee is responsible for recruiting, maintaining and recognizing volunteers and records necessary for insurance coverage as well as training partners to work with the homeowners. This committee meets on an as required basis.
The ReStore Committee is responsible for recruiting and maintaining a permanent group of volunteers for the store as well as informing the public of the goals, needs and activities of the store by using various media. This committee meets on the first Tuesday evening of the month.
